Teen Services Specialist

Position Description:

The Teen Services Specialist provides library services and programming for young adults (typically ages 12-18). They serve as a regular and welcoming face of the library for youth transitioning to adulthood, and developing their reading and activity interests.

Basic Requirements:

High school diploma or GED
PA State Police criminal history check, PA Child Abuse clearances, FBI fingerprints
Candidates with experience in event planning, public libraries, or working with youth will be given preference

Compensation and Scheduling:

Hourly rate of $15.00
20 – 25 hours per week
Afternoon hours, one regular evening per week and a minimum of one Saturday per month, evenings and weekends as needed for programs

Major Duties:
  • Plan and implement a variety of tween and teen programs in conjunction with other Youth Services staff
  • Provide Youth circulation desk coverage, including account, reference, and reader’s advisory assistance for users, including topical research and material location in person, by telephone, and via email.
  • Create engaging displays and promotional materials for Teens and Youth Services
  • Coordinate teen volunteers to complete Library projects
  • On an as-needed basis, assist with library-wide events and outreach

Public Programs Coordinator

Position Description:

The Public Programs Coordinator is the driving force behind the library's vibrant lineup of events and programs. This role wears many hats, from brainstorming engaging ideas, and securing talented presenters to ensuring every program runs smoothly. You'll be the go-to person for all things public programs, fostering a love of learning and connection within the community.

Basic Requirements:

High school diploma or GED
Experience with Google Workspace
PA State Police criminal history check, PA Child Abuse clearances, FBI fingerprints
Candidates with experience in event planning, education, or public libraries will be given preference

Compensation and Scheduling:

Hourly rate of $15.00
15 – 20 hours per week
Flexible daytime hours, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed for programs

Major Duties:
  • Assist librarians with the development, scheduling, and implementation of a variety of public programs and events, including lectures, workshops, author talks, story times, and community gatherings.
  • Manage an online event and room scheduling calendar, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of program information.
  • Oversee room setup and logistics for all programs and events.
  • Coordinate library volunteers.
  • Assist with social media promotion of library events and programs.
